Terms of use
Last updated: 16 October 2026.
These terms govern your use of gradingcalculatoronline.com, published by beFortunate ("we", "us"), established in the Netherlands. By using the site you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.
They are written to be read. Where a word has a technical meaning, we say which.
1. What the service is
A free web page containing four grade calculations — test score, weighted grade, final exam target, and a printable grading table — which run in your own browser.
There is no account, no sign-up and no payment. We do not store your input. Nothing you type reaches us.
2. What you may do
Use the site for your own purposes, personal or professional, free of charge. Teachers may use it for marking and may print and distribute the grading table within their class or department.
You may quote a figure or a formula from this site elsewhere, with a link back to the page you took it from. For anything beyond that, ask: [email protected].
3. What you may not do
- Interfere with the site or the server, attempt to gain unauthorised access, or probe it for vulnerabilities without our written agreement.
- Use automated means to overload the site, or scrape it at a rate that degrades it for others.
- Copy the site's text or design wholesale to republish as your own.
- Remove, obscure or alter the notices on the site, including the statement that a result is not an official grade.
- Present a result from this site as an official grade, or as a grade issued or endorsed by us or by any educational institution.
4. The results are calculations, not grades
This is the most important clause here, so it is also stated on the calculator itself and set out in full in the disclaimer.
A result is arithmetic performed on numbers you supplied. It is not an official grade, not a prediction, and not a statement about what any school will record.
We have no relationship with any school, college, university or examination board, and none of them has approved this site. Your school's published grading policy governs your grade in every case where it differs from a result here — including rounding, letter thresholds, dropped scores, extra credit and curves.
Your school's rules win. Always.
5. No advice
Nothing on this site is academic, legal, financial, tax or professional advice, and nothing on it should be relied on for a decision that matters to you without checking it against your school's own rules or a qualified person.
We publish our formulas precisely so that you can check them.
6. Accuracy, and what we promise
We take accuracy seriously. The calculation code is covered by automated tests; the interface is driven in a real browser before release; every number in every article is produced by this calculator and recorded with the inputs that produced it.
What we cannot promise is perfection. The site is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent permitted by law, we give no warranty that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose.
If you find an error, tell us — [email protected] — with the mode and the exact values you entered. We will reproduce it and fix it.
7. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, this site — including any academic, financial or other consequence of relying on a result instead of your school's official grade.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
If you are a consumer, these terms do not affect your statutory rights.
8. Advertising
We fund the site with advertising from Google AdSense. The AdSense code and Google's consent message load on every page. As of 16 October 2026 no ad is showing yet, because Google has not finished reviewing the site.
Ads appear in two fixed positions and are marked as advertising. We do not control the content of third-party ads and do not endorse what they promote. Advertising never affects what the calculators compute.
Google's advertising code can set cookies on your device. Where consent is required, Google's message asks for it, and the Cookie settings button at the bottom of every page lets you change your answer at any time. See the cookie notice and the privacy statement.
9. Links out
We link to external pages, including official school grading policies and Google's own documentation, as sources. We do not control those pages and are not responsible for their content, which may change after we cite it. Each citation carries the date we checked it.
10. Intellectual property
The site's text, design, and the code implementing the calculators are ours or licensed to us. Mathematical formulas themselves are not owned by anyone and we claim no rights over them — we only claim the particular wording, worked examples and design used to present them. See clause 2 for what you may do.
11. Privacy
See the privacy statement and the cookie notice. In short: your grades stay in your browser; we set no cookies of our own and run no analytics of our own; Google's advertising code can set cookies, and you can refuse them.
12. Changes
We may change the site, and these terms, as the site develops. The date at the top shows the last change. A material change to these terms — or to what the site does with data — will be reflected on the relevant page before it takes effect.
Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the current version.
13. Suspension
We may restrict access to anyone breaching clause 3, or where necessary to protect the site and its other users.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the Netherlands, and disputes are subject to the courts of the Netherlands — without affecting any right you have as a consumer to bring proceedings, or rely on the mandatory consumer law, of your own country of residence.
15. If a clause fails
If any clause is found unenforceable, the rest stay in force and the failed clause is read as narrowly as needed to make it valid.
16. Contact
[email protected] — see contact.

- Site behaviour described in clauses 1, 6, 8 and 11 is the actual behaviour of this site on 16 October 2026. That calculations run in your browser and that the calculator transmits nothing were confirmed by a browser test which recorded every request the page made and allowed exactly one — Google's advertising script. That our own code writes no cookie or storage was read from the code: there is no
document.cookie, localStorageorsessionStoragecall anywhere. That the AdSense code and Google's consent message load, with no ad unit live yet, was read frompublic/assets/integrations.json(adsense.enabled: true, adsense.adUnitsLive: false, consent.provider: google-funding-choices) and from the<head>of every generated page. Google's cookies are listed, with Google's sources, in the cookie notice. - These terms describe this site's own rules. They are not legal advice, and they are drafted to be read rather than to replace the owner's own legal review.
